Prologue

One of the best and brightest men I have known, Herbert C. Taylor, Jr., was shocked to discover that I had neither read nor heard of Mary Renault. He insisted I quit all other interests till I had read The Last of the Wine.  That was twenty years ago, and I have been grateful to him ever since. Herb was Professor of Anthropology, Dean for Faculty Research, retired Air Force colonel, and a Romanophile; he was apotheosized, 2744 AUC.

It is Spring break, 1996. My intent is to supply visitors to this site with links to information which may supplement and complement the reading of these outstanding books. My starting point is to construct links to the Perseus Project, adding other resources as I encounter them. Titles are arranged in historical order rather than as written. If you want to make suggestions, please let me know (substitute '@' for '@').
